What does my tuition cover?
These are just a few of the things your tuition goes to, all of which are important and necessary.
You do not receive just lessons, and my number one reason for a stable monthly rate is to serve you without stopping to worry about my finances.
You will grow as a musician, MUCH faster and more efficiently than if you tried on your own.
Group lessons
Every lesson is an hour long, with practice time BUILT IN! My students go home from each lesson feeling confident and ready to continue their learning, without confusion or feeling overwhelmed.
Resource discounts
Get your books and instruments straight from me! Discounts for purchasing resources can be passed to you.
I have materials available in case students forget books or need extra music to improve learning.
Copying, writing music out, notation software, practice incentives, instruments and maintenance, time spent communicating to my students and parents
Trips to the music store, lesson planning, bookkeeping, developing and studying curricula. For every hour of teaching, an hour is spent in preparation!
College degrees cost time and money, so we can improve our teaching and give you a better experience.
Printing programs listing the students and their pieces, refreshments, drinks, renting out the beautiful recital space
I enhance my skills by learning from other educators and also provide opportunities for other music activities.
Publications are another resource for staying current.
Property costs, self-employment tax, retirement
Owning this teaching business has extra costs that other jobs do not. Self-employment tax is significantly higher than that of hired employment.
I get to learn about new methods and techniques and then pass them on to you! It takes time and money to stay updated with classes and extended learning as a teacher.
